I am Leslie Holloway, a caregiver who has spent a lifetime ensuring the comfort of friends, family and loved ones. I have three decades of experience as a marketing and fundraising professional, securing up to $20M annually and leading major campaigns in both areas. Yet, the most rewarding and challenging endeavors have been my five decades of caring for others. My family legacy is caring for others, so much so, that we have a room in our house called The Heavenly Slumber where family members and friends come to recover from surgery. We held the hands and hearts of three family members who transitioned in that peaceful room. I am the oldest of six children who had to be an “example” for my siblings. Born in St. Louis, I spent 28 years away to explore professional options. I returned to St. Louis 14 years ago to care for my mother who gave up her fight with early-onset Alzheimer’s Illness six years ago. I currently care for my grandmother (98 years of age), Dad (84 years of age) and my aunt (74 years of age) while serving as matriarch to my family.
Serving as a caregiver can be rewarding yet exhausting, lonely and overwhelming. In our stage group, we will share experiences and strategies for traveling on this journey of love while ensuring that we are caring for ourselves. If you are experiencing the heartfelt challenges of caring for others amid work and raising children, join the Caretaking…And You stage group for laughter, support and even hugs.
